Practice Appraisals

chart

You deserve a valuation for your dental practice that reflects all the effort you've put into building it. Placing a value on a dental practice is very different from valuing many other major assets. Assets like cars, homes and stock portfolios all trade in markets where publicly available information makes it relatively easy to determine market prices. And each of these assets is fairly easy to understand. Not so with dental practices.

Dental practices sell in a market with virtually no publicly available information. Accordingly, only a handful of professionals in all of Ontario have good access to the actual market prices practices are selling for. And each dental practice is unique, with a wide variety of complex factors that need to be considered to determine a final value.

At Tier Three we've been appraising dental practices for over 20 years. In addition to unsurpassed experience with dental equipment, our management team brings many years of dental banking experience, practice management and sophisticated investment valuation experience to every valuation we do.

Our appraisals are routinely relied on by major Canadian financial institutions, and we have a track record of being called on by the courts as expert witnesses in cases where practice valuations are disputed.

The Tier Three Valuation Approach:

We triangulate between three separate valuation approaches to ensure a comprehensive consideration of all aspects of practice value.

With Tier Three, you get more than just an appraisal document.

The document you do get is an extensive professional document containing the information needed by prospective purchasers, financial institutions, accountants and insurance companies. It will cover many areas of your practice, including the value of all major equipment, leasehold improvements, supplies and good will. It will also include a detailed description of the practice, including financial performance, staff details, location and lease information, along with a range of other pertinent details.

The document itself is very important, but we don't feel our work is done until you, and your professional advisors, understand the results and what you can do about them. In addition to discussing the report with you and your advisors, we will also give you a scorecard that compares your practice to industry benchmarks on the critical elements that determine practice value. Most of the time we are able to identify significant opportunities to enhance your practice's value, and we'll spend time helping you understand how to capitalise on them. This alone usually pays for the cost of the appraisal many times over.
